In Lifetime Dental, we offer various solutions for patients with teeth alignment problems and one of the most popular options we have is Invisalign. Our office, which is located in Rancho Cucamonga, CA has been offering Invisalign for many years to our patients – kids, teens and adults alike.
Invisalign vs. Braces
Both solutions are designed to straighten the teeth, enhance your smile and improve your oral health. But unlike braces, Invisalign is not made of uncomfortable and bulky metal brackets tied together by special rubber bands and wires. Advancements in braces today have paved the way for more comfy and discrete brackets but they are still in no way comparable to Invisalign aligners.
Invisalign is virtually invisible and it is made of comfortable, smooth and BPA-free plastic aligners that you will need to wear over your teeth. Over time, it will slowly and gently move your teeth until they reach the ideal position in your gum line.
Other Key Differences
Aside from being invisible and more comfortable to wear, Invisalign is also the preferred choice of many of our patients because it is removable and you get the results a lot quicker. Of course, it’s also worth noting that the duration of treatment will depend on the severity of the misalignment. The average would be from 6-18 months and you’ll need to wear your braces 22-24 hours each day. Braces, on the other hand, are not removable and you have to wear them for an average of 2 years.
Benefits to the Patient
When our patients require teeth straightening, we always discuss the pros and cons of the options we offer to them. With Invisalign, you get the following benefits:
- You don’t have to feel embarrassed about wearing them. They’re clear aligners and so they’re hardly visible to the people around you.
- You can eat whatever you want. One of the main problems with braces is that food can get stuck in the teeth so you’re always extra careful about what you eat. But with Invisalign, you can simply remove your aligners and eat your favorite foods.
- You won’t feel any discomfort. The technology used in creating this device makes it possible for you to wear it without having to deal with any discomfort even from the very start.
The cost of Invisalign aligners is higher than traditional braces so that is also one factor that you have to take into consideration. You will also need to visit our office every 4-6 weeks to get new aligner trays and change your aligners every 2 weeks.
